Steve Fabri
Moseley's on the Charles
Steve Fabri is an exception to the rule. He's one of the many "Aces In The Hole" in the hand of cards held by DB's Orchestra. The other members of the group have long lost count of the many times Steve has fulfilled a venue patrons request for a particular piece of music simply by having it at his fingertips. Whether it's from Eric Clapton or Oklahoma, Frank Sinatra or Kismet, Steve seems to have not only the music instantly recalled but also the music in the original style in which it was presented. All the kicks and stops, all the intros and endings, and all played with the style and authenticity of the original recording. If he doesn't have it at the ready, by the next playing engagement he'll show up on the job with the entire score written out. He's also our Bass player and one of the three vocalists in the band. Whether he's playing at a local venue or, as he did in one case, at the Kennedy compound with Frank Gifford and Carly Simon in attendance, he doesn't even have to be asked, he just does it.
As a music education graduate from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, Steve has performed extensively with dance and function orchestras, as a soloist for cocktail hours and lounges and in numerous theater productions. Perhaps that explains his unique ability to recall, in depth, so much popular music. In fact, Steve was director-pianist at the Allen A. Resort, Wolfeboro NH, providing music for shows and dancing as orchestra leader and the coordinator of the weekly staff show. His time as orchestra leader also led to his role as an accompanist for Angelo Picardi and on 2 separate occasions, it was both his privilege and delight to work with Myron Floren and Joe Feeny playing the touring "Stars of the Lawrence Welk Show."
In addition, he has worked with some of the Boston area's finest such as: Jack Alessi, Jerry Daddio, Sherman Marcus, Winiker Family, Jerry Davis and Jeff Carlton Orchestras among others.
His sense of "perfect pitch" serves the orchestra well as he's featured both as a lead and backing vocalist to much of the orchestra's repertoire. One of his favorite leads describes him perfectly...He is, indeed, "Hot, Hot,Hot!
