Bob Doyle
Wiano Country Club
In the past forty years, Bob has worked with so many bands, theater productions, and shows that there's just too many too mention. After traveling extensively throughout the 1970's and early 1980's (literally from coast to coast and Canada) he was fortunate enough to secure a full time position for 8 years as the drummer/ percussionist with "On The Rocks," at the Inn For All Seasons in Plymouth Mass. It was during this time that his unique style and technique was noticed by Modern Drummer Magazine and thus he had some of his ideas and technique published in an international format. (See October 1983 article "A Left Handed Perspective.")
Bob has been privileged to study the percussive arts with some of the New England's premier drummers, most notably Alan Dawson (Dave Brubeck's drummer and former chairman of the percussion department @ the Berkley College of Music) and Gene Roma (drummer/ percussionist for Cats and Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat).
No stranger to acts of national acclaim, Bob has played with such notables as: Danny and the Juniors (At the Hop, Rock and Roll is Here to Stay), Tommy Roe (Dizzy, Sheila, Sweet Pea), Bobby Hebb (Sunny), Jett Williams (Hank's daughter!), Bonnie Bramlitt (Delaney, Bonnie and Friends), and Fergie Fredrickson, lead vocalist of the 80's rock group "Toto." On several occasions it's been his delight to play with Charlie Daniels (Devil Went Down To Georgia). It was also his good fortune to play for the dancers from Lawrence Welk's show, Bobby and Elaine, which is a definite plus for all those ballroom dancers who currently dance to the beat of DB's Orchestra.
In addition, his talent has not escaped the attention of local recording studios. He has done recording work for many local artists and at one point completed a session with K.C. Jones of the Boston Celtics. Many are surprised to find out that K.C. is a very decent vocalist in his own right. When not playing a session, Bob is frequently called in by a studio as a drum tuning specialist.
Besides working for David Burbank, Bob freelances whenever his schedule permits in such organizations as Don Besegai's Big Band @ the Plymouth Rock Stage during the Summer months and teaches drumming at his teaching studio "Bob Doyle's Drumpad" in Scituate Mass.
